Transmission Planning and Generator Interconnections
Implemented FERC-compliant transmission planning for a 50,000 MW power grid and played a key role in the Renewable Energy Transmission Initiative (RETI) and ensuing collaborative among California transmission owners planning processes that satisfy reliability, economic, and environmental policy mandates. Led complex regulatory contract negotiations, including generator and transmission interconnection agreements.

Wholesale Electricity Markets
Served a key role in start-up of wholesale nodal electricity markets for the Mid-Atlantic Region (PJM), California and Texas (ERCOT) for alignment with international best practices.

Reliability Compliance
Launched successful reliability compliance programs pursuant to mandatory standards of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Western Electric Coordinating Council (WECC), and California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), including infrastructure planning and transmission asset maintenance requirements. Served as industry sector representative to NERC’s Board of Trustees.

Smart Grid / Demand Response
Designed retail choice programs and ISO interfaces for the Mid-Atlantic and California regions. Executive for smart grid and distributed energy initiatives, including microgrids.

Business and regulatory policy development and deployment. Experience with federal and state technical proceedings and rate hearings.
